I have a 2009 Road King Classic with the docking hardware for detachable luggage rack and backrest (or tourpak, which is what I have on there right now). I am trying to install the Rivco Mounting System so I can carry a flag in the parade this weekend. Trouble is the mounting bracket doesn't line up with the holes in my fender.
Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong or is the bracket defective. It's the same on both sides.
This is about as close as I can get the bracket to the hole that bolt is supposed to go into.
Evidently nobody else had problems with this, because I never got any responses. However, I'm gonna go ahead and post a follow up of how the issue was resolved.
I contacted Rivco and pointed out that the brackets I had received appeared different from the brackets in the photos. Even though the part numbers on the box matched the year and model of my bike, it appears that the brackets did not. The brackets in the box lacked a small curved cutout that allowed the bracket to fit around the saddle back support. Rivco sent me the different bracket and -- voila -- the new bracket was simple to install. It took just a few minutes.
