It does seem odd that the port is so far off centre and I say that as a production engineer accustomed to checking parts including castings for accuracy. The gasket is a pretty tight fit in the head and I would be surprised if it failed to seal, however I'm also surprised the two are so far out of sync! Have you raised this with your dealer or H-D?

Although your concern and puzzlement over the misalignment is understandable, the sealing shouldn't be a problem (more than any std installation)...Your port is just "off" (out of position) relative to the counter-bore machining and mounting studs

No I have not brought it up to them, as I have not noticed any issues other than an annoying pinging sound that I am concerned may be an exhaust leak coming from the area. Exhaust leaks are hard to pinpoint but the old gasket that I removed was pushed into the port which does concern me. The bike is way out of warranty so it's not really worth the battle I would have to go thru. If I determine the gasket won't seal it gives me an excuse for a tire shredder upgrade this winter.

If there is anything we can do to help you make that decision I'm sure we can rally around!
