Tensioner inspection

I haven't got my service manual yet so pardon this dumb question,to do just s cam chain tensioner inspection due I have to drain my oil,just did it 2 weeks ago and I run expensive amsoil

drain it in a clean container and pour it back when you're done.

NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRAIN THE OIL. The oil is not in the engine it is in the Oil tank. there is only a few ounces in the engine

When you pop the cover off, you'll have maybe an ounce or so that will come out but that's about it.

If you have a 2007 or newer, inspecting the cam shoes isn't as super critical as it was before that. The later model tensioners are hydraulic, not prone to heavy wear and failure. That's not to say that you shouldn't inspect them from time to time, but I think I'd wait until the next oil change. Some oil is going to flow out whether you drain it or not, so it might as well be old oil, I reckon.
