Default Jiffystand/Asphalt/Falling Over

Question...

Approximately what air temperature should I be worried about the jiffystand sinking into the asphalt and the bike falling over? Here in Charlotte, I have been using my jiffstand coaster when the "REAL" air temperature exceeds 90 degrees.....this means when my highly accurate fairing air temperature gauge is reading about 120 degrees.

not to give you a stupid answer....but...
if in doubt, put the foot under the jiffystand.
It may be 80 degrees in one parking lot that has soft asphalt and the bike will fall over and be 100 degrees in another and the bike do ok.
You some common sense on this one. Its not rocket science.

..look at asphalt as you set bike over on stand, does it look soft?..any give?..how about does it push up a little crumb edge around foot of jiffy stand. Look at other bikes parked near. How long do you intend on leaving it.

I bought one of those Black plastic disks that the dealers use to put under their kickstand on bikes on the show floor. I think is was $5 at the dealer. Very easy to carry on the bike. I always use it during the summer if it's 80 degrees, plus.

It was about 90F here the other day and a friend of mine had his jiffystand go about a 1/2" into the parking lot asphalt. Here's the kicker: he rides a 400 pound sportbike.
This scared the hell outta me. I wonder how my 700+ lbs Road King would have faired in this same parking lot.

I'm carrying a jiffystand base in my bags from here on out!

I have one of those, too. But a crushed aluminum can works just as well.

Dang, where you guys finding all these cans? Here in Iowa everyone turns them in to get 5 cents to buy more chrome for the bike.
