Default HD LED rear turn signals getting hot

Something I discovered quite by accident. I installed the HD LED turn signals on the front and back. The front ones turned out to be **** as some of the LED's started burning out. The rear ones seemed ok but I just noticed that they're getting quite hot. Not the lens's but the casings are hot to the touch. Anyone ever had the same issue?

Sounds like a partial short. Pull the assembly out and detect where the heat is being generated. I wouldn't want a wiring issue at night, while rolling down a winding road.

Hmmmm. Current will take every path to ground no way to be a partial short. My guess would be a built in load equalizer getting hot.

Had a loose connection on a Mustang tail light. Lights would work until the wiring got hot. Then they would shut off.... until cool. But built in load equalizer would get hot too....

It's not just the casing getting hot from exhaust heat is it?

The LED boards do produce heat, if there was a shot in the signal, power to ground, the signal would not work and you would be blowing the lighting circuit fuse. Even the best LED boards do have LED's that go out. I can tell you that Radiantz makes a great product and they do offer a lifetime warranty. http://www.radiantz.com/SearchResults.asp?mfg=Retrofit

Default I know...right.

First thing I thought of too. I removed the load equalizer last night to see if that may be the issue. I also have one of those 'runbrake switches' for the back end. It keeps the turn signals on constantly until you use the signals. I'll see what transpires today. I have the Kuryakn LED's on the front and they stay cool. even though they stay on all the time too. What's so odd about this is the lens's for the rear LED's do not get hot at all, it's the back of the chrome case they fit into that gets really hot.

Default So, I just removed the 'run brake relay'

Problem solved. I suspect the relay itself may be the culprit. I don't know how to check whether it's fubar so I'll get a new one and see what happens. They came out before all the LED lights came out and maybe wasn't designed to be used with them. I hope they've updated them somewhat.
