Yesterday I combined my love of fly fishing with my love of riding and had a great day. I was in Bass Pro the otherday andbought a 7 piece rod made by Orvis. It breaks down and is stored in a tube that is the perfect size for my saddle bags. Between the 2 bags I easily stored all the necessary fishing tackle (rod, reel, vest, net) except my waders. I probably could have cramed the waders in one side and the other gear in the other but I didn't want to overload them. Also I didn't want to store smelly wet waders for the ride home. I put them in a backpack no problem but on the way home the backpack seeped river water on my back and seat.
Anyone have an idea for stowing wet waders for a 2 hour ride home?
I too love fly-fishing..hence my screen name, in fact I'm typing this from Montana, where I'm fishing theMadison...
I would suggest a "dry bag" Its a waterproof bag that closes at the top... We use 'em when float the river in case someone gets soaked.. Work great, I think its exactly what you are looking for..
I strap the pole across the bars , tackle in the side bags , I keep the waders in a large garbage bag , and strap to the back over seat , because the boots sometimes get muddy. Also if its cold enough I have wore them home , not the best looking riding attire but you have to do what you have to do.
