No recent posts so I'll ask for updates. Recommendations for an excellent quality leather jacket. (Classic Style) I bought one off the internet, made in Singapoop or somewhere I'll never visit, paid $200+ last summer. Stitching starting to come apart in several places, 3 snaps broke, "leather pocket trim isnot leather, snaps torn away there too.Fox Creek still great quality and are they REALLY made in the USA?
Thanks, I appreciate your great ideas and suggestions.
As crazy as it sound....pretty hard to beat the quality of a ture Harley Jacket.....yes we pay more, but me and the wife luv em. Mine is 8 years old now and still looks great
I live in CA - started riding back in 96 - I am short and have never really been able to find a jacket that fits... Tried HD and all looked like I was wearing my Fathers jacket... Someone told me about http://www.johnsonleather.com/ I spoke to Allen (still is the manager there) He custom made my wife & Ia jacket that is still great today - they are guaranteed for life...
sometimes I have to laugh sometimes when I see/hear of a rider that has forked out 20+ Grand for a Harley then buys crap for protection... If a person is buying a jacket for protection - This is Not a place to cut corners - buy the best you can afford - Hey, I want to save money too - however, between the time I leave the bike and just before I make contact with the pavement - Iam gona be wishing I had bought the best protection out there..
OK, I am off my soapbox here... Call Allen and talk about getting a jacket that fits YOU -[/align]
I've been wearing the same American-made"Branded Leather" jacket for 16 years and it still has plenty of life left but it finally got too tight on me. I just ordered a new one from Fox Creek and, yes, they're made in the USA. Other American-made jackets are Bates, Schott, Classic Jackets, and Brooks.
Here is a website that sells only American-madebrands of leather gear.
I have a H-D FXRGmidweight leather and a Fox Creek classic II. Both are excellent jackets.
The FXRG can be worn around in many situations and the Fox Creek is strickly for riding as far as I am concerned.
