Just remove the heel shifter peg and leave the rest, that's what I did. It also keeps your boot off the engine and scratching up the chrome.

I removed rear shifter and used the Kuryakyn spacer. Beefed up the linkage while I was at it.

One think I did was I found an old socket that is a 1/2 inch long, and got
a longer Allen bolt to move the toe pad out farther from the shifter arm

wish I could learn to post pictures. I went to Lowes/Menards/Home Depot to their hardware section and go some small white plastic spacers for a couple bucks. I forget the size, maybe 1/2" id, and 1/2" long.... measured the shift lever for the width. took heel shifter off, moved toe shifter outboard and had the spacer behind that.... nice easy and cheap. plus if you looked at it, you would never know what had happened.
Far better than some of the set ups I've seen here!!!
