EZ Brake offers a spacer that is spring loaded and keeps tension on the shifter shaft, I'm assuming to prevent wear of the shifter shaft bushing. I originally used the cap style to cover the end of shifter shaft, but I wanted the toe shift in the out board position.
I tried a couple of aftermarket solutions but what I like the best is taking the rubber cover off the heel shifter peg, cutting it down, and using that as a spacer.

On mine, I removed the heel shifter, cut the shaft, and installed a double long peg that outfit dells...forget the name but it's a commonly known company....it gives me glee and lots of it.
