Default Wrong Bike

I have a 2017 Lowrider S that I love. But, even though I made it a 2-up, my wife did not find it comfortable. So, I just bought a 2018 Ultra Limited hoping my wife would ride with me on the cushy bike (she loved it at the dealer, and said she would ride with me). Unfortunately after only 250 miles on the bike, she realized she prefers four wheels. Has anyone ever realized very quickly that the bike they bought was the wrong bike? If so, did you trade it for a different bike or just sell it soon after buying (probably taking a really big hit)?

Well. That's a problem. And sure, there are a lotta guys have had that problem.

But nobody's gonna be able to really decide what to do...but you.

But, as long as you're asking, here's my take. I ride a motorcycle for one person...only. For me. Only me. I was riding LONG before I met and married my wife. She married a motorcyclist. Plain and simple. I don't know whether you consider that Harley to be 'a toy'...or whether it's as part of your psyche as your indecisiveness. I suspect the former.

I'm not trying to be impolite or disrespectful here. But this is a matter of a toy gone bad, you have two choices. Keep the bike and get a four wheeled toy and a solo seat. Ride that sucker like a stud.

Or sell it, take the hit like a stud, and get your wife HER toy.

It's a simple thang!

Thanks for the input - and, I did not take anything you wrote as impolite or disrespectful. The Ultra is a toy gone bad. My Lowrider S is MY bike, the one that is just for me, and the one that is a part of me. The wife has a four wheel toy already. I just wanted the wife to ride with me - I was hoping that we would do some long trips together. I guess it is simple - I will take the hit and trade or sell it. Someone is going to get a nice discount on a basically new bike!

Try to get her interested again... or, go tour by yourself, or tour with another chick that likes bikes.

As much as I enjoy my wife and as much as I enjoy going out riding 2 up with my wife.

I enjoy just as much getting out by myself. And nothing like a big solo trip....

I love getting out by myself, and I also love the solo trips (which I take on my other bike). Main reason for the second bike was the wife. I will probably sell it (or maybe trade it for another Harley that is not quite so 2-up focused).

Well, that is an unfortunate story. One I don't really see a way out of without a significant loss.

My I ask what she suddenly found so distasteful about two wheel travel?

I enjoy both riding solo and with the wife. We also have several other couples we ride with from time to time, my wife likes that too. Also see more and more women with their own bikes. Something that might interest your wife?

You got a great bike. Ever consider Iron Butt riding? You have the bike for it. Give it a shot unless finances are now a problem.

I have a 17 Limited, but my wife has been riding on the back of all my bikes since we met 36 years ago. Still, I go out on it solo all the time and it's a great bike either way.

Get the quick release for the tour pack, make the Limited more solo worthy, and be able to go two up, with the wife, if the mood strikes her/you.

Or sell it.
