I have a '17 RKS and I'm looking at changing the bars. For those that have upgraded their bars, can you tell me which ones you got. Or if anyone definitively knows the clamping area measurement, that would be great. Once I know that measurement I can search for the bars I want that way.
I'm pretty sure most, if not all, bars have the clamp area at 1". Your clamp covers are gonna be close, but can accommodate the 1 1/4". Anything fatter and your clamp covers may need changing.
Some bars are 1.25 but 1" at the grips and risers. Also some bars are 1.25 at the risers too, should be easy to tell...use a ruler !...b.
No need for a ruler. I can tell the difference. Problem is that on the new RK, you have to take the light, light cowl, etc. off to remove the clamp cover. It's not as simple as a couple of screws to remove the old style cover to get the the riser section.
Just as an FYI in case anyone searches this topic, the 2017 RK Special has 1.25" bars that do not taper down. The clamping surface is 1.25" If you buy bars that do have a 1" clamping surface, you will need to use an adapter.
