Default Low fuel light

I have a 2008 Electra Glide Ultra Classic. Today as I was headed out for a 200 mile ride my low fuel light came on. I knew I had filled it the other day after another ride, but at the stop light I pulled the cap to make sure no body had stole my gas. It was full. The light went out shortly. After about 150 miles it came back on and my fuel gauge went to full. It kept acting up so I headed to the house to check things out. I have not found the answer yet, but has anyone here have an idea, or ever had this kind of problem?
Thanks for your help.

Its hard to say for sure but it could be a bad fuel sending unit and/or gauge. But before i raced out and started replacing parts, you need to check all the wiring for the fuel system.According to the 08 electrical diagnostics manual the most likely culprit is a bad ground or shorted/corroded wire.Google "08 electrical diagnostics manual" and see if you can find a digital copy(hopefully for free)of this. This manual is just as important if not more important then the service manual.Even if you have to buy it this manual will save you hours of banging your head against the wall chasing electrical problems.

I've got the manual, but have not had time yet to look through it for this problem, but will later on today. First i have to get ready for the 90th birthday party for my Aunt 90 miles away.
I did just wire a GPS in last week, and it was pretty straight forward. I may have pulled on a wire or connector that has caused this problem.
Thanks for your advice. I will follow.

I would look at the tank sender connector first. The sender works off of resistance and a poor connection could cause your problem. Happy 90th Birthday Auntie
