Default a great product for touring

i gotta have fluids... weather it be coffee in the morn or water during the heat.... ive tried a few different set ups for carrying an acessable drink.... my buddy showed me his Butler extreme mug holding system.. it is a really nice set up... just ordered the 32 oz... but can get the ring and mug for smaller drinks which you can interchange on the mounting system quickly... just thought id pass this along for anyone in search of a product like this.... http://www.glassact.com/gallery1.htm

Cool product, a bit pricy though. I've seen similar products at a boat shop for less, and they even have mountings for round bars too. Just a thought.

I got the Harley pouch that attaches to the rear engine guard. It has a small bag and a holder for a water bottle that comes with it. I got rid of the water bottle and found a Thermos that fits perfectly. It also is perfect for a rolled up magazine or bottle of soda, etc... Always within quick reach and I don't have to have stuff hanging off the Handlerbars. I can take a drink from the water bottleat a stoplight, or have a cup of coffee wherever I stop - depending on which I bring.

Of course, I can't use it to drink while I'm actually riding, but I wouldn't do that anyway.

Does having a drink holder mounted on the saddlebag guard cause the drink to get warm quickly from heat off the engine/exhaust???

I think $57 for a plastic cup and holder is a bit extravagant, really, although I've spent $57 on more far ridiculous things in the past. Another option is to buy an insulated mug from Wal-Mart in the sporting-goods section for <$10, then put it in a saddlebag guard bag. I've been doing this for 10 years on trips and is accessible while riding, although maybe not quite as much so as the $57 cup. I carry powdered Gatorade in a ziplock bag and at every stop put in a scoop and fill with water and ice from the cold-drink machine. These mugs have a closable spout that seals it off when not in use, and are apparently designed for hikers and hunters.

It seems like a mug full of liquid mounted on the handlebars would shake like crazy at idle.

When I was getting the Ram-mount for my GPS I explored their web site and found a nice cup holder made by ram mount. It is the best one I've had thus far.

I've got a Butler setup that I use on trips... It's GREAT!

Don;t wash the cup in the dishwasher. It will ruin the insulation.
