Default Shock oil...Can I refill?
I was given a replacement set of OEM rear shocks, for my FLH. Oil has leaked out. Can I replace the oil, and what type to be used?

Free isn't always free I know.

Yes, I went with 7w or 10w shock oil, IIRC

I used type F ATF several years ago. The best $7.00 improvement I have made.

I think you might want to find out "why" the oil leaked out before trying to put more in so it can leak out also.

Here's a tip. HD will tell you they can't be rebuilt. Bull. Up until at least 09, the shocks were made by Showa in Japan (might still be). Check out a parts fiche for a 1984 Honda Aspencade. The shocks are identical and all parts are available, even the rubber gaters.
