where is your sender? sound likeyou have a dipstick temp guage?
If it's a dipstick take it out, put the stock back in and get what you can for it in ebay!
I had the same one, I put up with it for about a week.
My 2006 Ultra normally runs about 180-200. On long trips it goes to 120-130 on 90F days which is about 20-30 degF less than before I installed a Jag oil filter adapter and fork type oil cooler. I removed the absolutlely waste of space, waste of money at factory level ambient temp gauge and installed a oil temp gauge in its place which the MOCO should have done.Whoever came up with the ambient gauge needs to be sacked!
I used a deep fry temp gauge. This is after the bike died on me, luckely while I was pulling my driveway.
Harley's premium oil cooler is back ordered, anyone have a recommendation? The Jagg 740-858 says Requires offset oil filter adapter.
What is that?
Last Sunday after a ride in 93° heat through five miles of slow traffic, my SG showed 230° in the pan, the highest I've seen it so far. I immediately went home and gave my PCIII map a shot of extra fuel in the take-off and cruise ranges for some extra cooling, as it was set rather lean (still is, actually). I normally see 180-200° temps while moving, up to 210° in traffic. If I ever saw 275° oil temps I would freak and install an oil cooler pronto. I have the HD Premium installed and it does a decent job of keeping oil temps under control. Jagg makes the HD coolers, and you'd likely be as well off with a Jagg.
The Jagg 10-row looks like a good product, as does the FLH Lowmount, the latter being similar to the HD Premium that fits neatly under the voltage regulator. The adapter fits between your oil-filter housing and the filter, and they also make a version with a thermostat (#4700), which I think is essential.
I live in south Fla, My Road King screaming eagle 1550runs 275 degreeson a hot day. I've been told by several HD mechanics that is O.K. Never the less Istillinstalled a oil cooler and now my oil runs around 220 to 230on a hot day. I work on high performance marine diesel engines for a living, the sump oil runs around 220 to 230 degrees. Not sure why I brought that up. lol
