All I can say is that this is an oxymoron. This segment has been created by people whom are excellent marketers to get to the pie at the highest financial segment of the Harley industry. Don't get me wrong, my bike is moving in that direction, however it is still an 800+ pound motorcycle. Adding carbon fiber to shave 10 lbs off a best this size is like a 400 lb woman losting 40 lbs. She feels it but no one else notices.
I run T bars, taller shocks, and will get to my motor when the time comes, but all this carbon fiber is utterly ridiculous. I've set y baggers up for "performance" (chuckling to self) since before this became the new trend. I like to lean my bike over and rai the throttle. I think is hilarious that people can fall for some of this. I say set your bike up for how you like to ride. Some guys like to cruise, some like to ride canyons at speed. I much prefer this trend to big wheels and air rides at least.
Well, finally broke down and bought mid controls. Boosted Brads...now I gotta switch exhaust. Thinking either a stealth or a trask. Not trying to spend like 2k on a custom one.
I hope I dont lose much power. My fuelmoto pipe made a lot, but it wont work with mids.
I wonder if I need a new tune going from one 2-1 to another? Hmmm.
@Puglia10 Which FM pipe you got? You selling it? Hit me up if so. MId controls are not for me on a bagger. I prefer to be able to move my feet around on long rides than to lean a tiny bit further. I have 2 bikes with mids. That's enough for m

FM road and track 2-1 in black. Its an awesome pipe, thats actually the reason I didnt want mids is because I didnt want to change pipes lol. It made awesome power, sounds great, is pretty mellow cruising on long highway trips but really barks when you want it to. Kind of bummed about it. But yeah, I'll be selling it once the snow flies, which could be any day.
I hope I dont regret the mids, but theyve always been more comfortable to me for handling and for my messed up lower back.

mare you running a power vision through FM? They would be able to get you a tune with a new pipe. It wouldnt hurt since not all pipes are created equal.
as far as mid controls Ive always had forward controls, even on my dyna. Id be interested to see how yours ride and handle with the back problems. My lower spine is all titanium.

I think part of the reason performance baggers are so cool is due to the fact they're not supposed to be quick or performance based. Anyone can buy a lightweight sport bike or sports car and be fast out of the box, but where's the fun in that?
I never understood why people would bother sticking money into trucks or SUVs to make them faster, until I drove in a 1200 HP diesel pickup truck. In that 4.1 seconds it took to go 0-60, I completely understood. Then I bought a supercharged Range Rover and got to enjoy the silliness of driving a fast, 5800lb SUV everyday.
Now I want to do the same with my heavy, unwieldy 850lb touring bike
