If a battery goes dead or too low voltage, a battery tender usually will not recover it. I picked up a 1.5 amp charger/tender. And it took 2 days to recover a battery with 1.7 volts left in it. The cold weather kicked its *** forgot to connect my tender and it took a week to kill it. And be careful using a high amp charger it kills the battery cooks them.
Never got more than 4 years out of a battery. Keep it on a tender in the winter too. Last battery was a Big Crank. Got 3 years until it started to drag. Purchased a Renegade RG 30l-WS from Amazon last spring. Perfect fit and cranks fine. Supposed to have more CCA than stock or the Big Crank. Good so far. I see the price ($110) is a little higher now than what I paid for 7 months ago.
Second for the rengrade off amazon. 600 cca . I replaced my original battery with this unit and will tell you that the bike cranked faster than when it was new. I forgot to put the tender on it and after a month of sitting it cranked up as if it was on the charger. I think it was -4 that morning outside and maybe 20 in the garage.
If the price is close, go with a two year warranty battery from a local store.
If you have a warranty issue, it's the least hassle and least downtime. If it's a chain store, that might even come in handy out on the road.
When mine conked a few years ago, I went with a Duracell from Batteries Plus. Two year free replace, and they told me "You are in the system. You will not need your receipt if an issue happens out on the road". I keep all receipts, but that is cool right there.
I feel that my theory just has more bases covered, that's all.
Maybe I don't need a new battery. Last night I hooked my bike up to my old Deltran Battery Tender Junior. I guess I bought it close to 10 years ago. After leaving it on the charge all night, the battery wouldn't crank up this morning.
A few hours ago, I connected my Sears DieHard Battery charger to the bike. All of a sudden, the bike has life. The alarm went on and the lights are now on.
My current battery is 5 years old but looks like I'll be okay until I buy a new battery. And, I guess my old Deltran is about to meet the garbage.
Thanks all!
May not hold a charge so be prepared for that. Frankly you are due for a new one
