Cycle Bob's, Gilbert Arizona. AVOID
I wasn't going to reply but I can't help myself.
I wouldn't have asked anyone to go get the part for me knowing it was a confrontational situation, let alone my mom. I would have handled it myself and it would only have gotten physical if I had to defend myself.
Grow up.

I had an issue with a cycle shop when I was still on active duty and they were way in the wrong. I made a stink about it at the base down the road where I was stationed and it had an immediate negative impact on the business and they are no longer there. Actually he was shut down in about 6 months. Did I have something to do with that? Maybe, but all the other people who kept their mouths shut started coming forward too and that's what helped put a nail in the guys coffin.
The result? Better run businesses started getting some new customers and the consumers in that area won. Taking care of customers and being professional go a long way.
I won't attack MAJ methods. It was the facts that are important and this guys doesn't know how to run a business as far as I can tell.

I've had a similar problem with a similar ******* and it happened because what I did was short circuit his scamming. Basically, you were going to get not just disrespected but scammed for it afterwards ... like he was planning/going to rack up inflated costs in his mind.
I'd guess you burst his ego bubble that was depending/inflated on how he was going to rip you off, taking you for more money, and good on you for doing so.
I think part of the psychology in such guys is a process of assessing whether you are weak in their eyes or not, like with this bullshit over waiting and not scheduling, prior to shafting you further. It's a kind of two-three step thing.
His fall back is probably cranking up the volume, with bluster and threats, and you neatly sidestepped him on that one too which probably wound him up too. I mean, shouting at someone's 70 year mom is way beyond "doucebag".
But then I think I would have either have
a) gone back with your friends in uniform to address the matter and demand an apology to your mother in person in a gentlemanly manner,
b) gone back with your friends not in uniform and turned the place over.
Either way you would be doing the general public a service as you can be sure he's tried it on and will try it on with plently others.
It's like when a dog bites your hand, you don't pull it away, you stick it further down its throat so it thinks twice about biting someone else.

You took your business to him, even though he has bad reviews online...??
You're shocked when he won't get to your bike in a timely manner...??
Then to avoid "ending up in a fight and possibly going to jail" (extremely childish), you send your 70 year old Mom into a situation you didn't think you could handle without losing your temper......??????
There are numerous ways to remedy the bad decision to take your bike to that shop, without involving your Mommy. Unfortunately they involve you acting like a grown up. Time to buy some big boy pants and man up....

Take your mom with you for the apology, and capture it for Youtube.
I think in such a situation you're absolutely right to avoid the potential of physical alteration because a records not worth.
I'd love to have videoed your 70 year old mom telling a bad *** biker to go **** himself! Good for her.
Screw the guys for criticizing you not to "man up". You played a curved ball he was not expecting and got him. I just don't think it is finished, or should be finished, as it stands.
May be get your mom and a few of her friends to go back, with you guys in the background in uniform, and really take the p*** out of him telling them what they think and seeing how they react.
Even better if she has 70 year Vet friends to go with her.
Turn it into a fiasco.
