What a weekend I've had!
Anyway, Rod at Rod's Performance in Hanceville, AL is a great guy with very reasonable pricing for the re-map ( $195 ).
Now for the rest of the story ( weekend that is ). I got off work thurs morning for ny long weekend, and set about that afternoon getting my parts to change the exhaust pipe gaskets and changing the oil. That evening was set aside to changing those simple little gaskets. Man what a job to change two little gaskets. Everything is in tight places and all the extra's that have to be moved or removed is a total pain in the butt! When I removed the right muffler, I heard something rattling inside. Now what? I couldn't see anything by looking inside so I removed the baffle. Well, to my surprise my baffle was broken in two. I continued with the job of replacing those little gaskets, and finally got everything but the right muffler back together at 3:00 in the morning.
Next morning I headed to the Harley stealer to get a new flnge nut that mysteriously disappeared during the refit and, I stopped by a muffler shop to see if they could repair the broken baffle. Meineke guy said he could fix it and sure enough he did it.
Back to the house with repaired baffle and some fiberglass pipe wrapping I picked up at a hardware store. Wrapped the baffle with fiberglass and installed baffle in muffler. Pulled bike outside and fired her up. No leaks at all! Let bike run for a few minutes to warm up, and told mamma to get ready to ride after I clean her up a bit. We got ready to ride , and went outside to leave. There on the ground was that exhaust flange nut I spent over an hour trying to find the night before with no luck at all! Go figure.
All in all though it turned out OK. My bike now runs like it should, idles smooth, and sounds meaner and mellower without that raspy sound it had before. Papa is happy for now!
