Default Power outlet location

I am considering putting a power outlet on my 2012 Ultra Classic. Any suggestions as to the best spot, other than on the handlebars? Thinking about part # 91843-97 and putting it thru the back end of the right side heat shield, or would it get too hot for the unit and/or wires?

Do you specifically need a cigarette type outlet? Where do you currently have them? What do you need it for?

Should be ok there, I have my battery tender plug in that area with no issues.

Want to put it there for my phone, in pocket. Also, putting one in the tour pak that has both cig lighter and usb port. The tour pak one will be for wife's phone and/or scala bluetooths if they need recharged while on the road. Going to hook one or both to the acc switch on the dash by the plug under the seat.

https://www.3brpowersports.com/index.php if you scroll down and look at the Tapp Lite in the middle on the right, it’s designed for the HD aux plug.

Have one similar already mounted on the lid of my tour pak, just not wired yet. It will be for the wife and her phone - as needed. Looking to put on closer to me so when stopped I can easily plug in for a phone charge. I keep my phone in my pocket (pants or vest) when riding, connect via Bluetooth in helmet - for nav, calls, and talk with wife.

I installed a usb port in my cig lighter spot on my Street Glide. I had thought about the side panels. out of the way and still convenient. Lots of out of the way locations if you thing about it....
