I figured out what Electra Glides where made for .....
Going up the interstate at 75 mph on cruise control.big V twin rumbling underneath you. Sun shining down. Batwing fairing busting a big ole hole in the air. Enough wind hitting you in the face to keep it real.
Slouched down and forward a bit in the seat. Leftleg out, foot up onthe highway bar. Left hand resting lightly on the grip, throttle arm resting across your lap. Head cocked a bit forwardand to the left, with abig ole shiet eaten grin on your face.
Thinking, damn! if only these idiots in cages new what they were missing. Being happy to know that you know enough not to miss out on it yourself. All the while, the radio, tuned to some classic rock station, belts out theWho singing about seeing formiles and miles.
Yes indeed!!
ok admittedly I prefer the twisties, but ... If you gotta eat up lots of miles on the interstate, It's tough to beat one of these puppies for comfort and character!
I think I'm gonna get me a back rest, Than I canput my arms across my chest, lean back with both feet up on the highway bars andcruise down the highway kicked back andno handed at 75!!! Yee haa!!
I do the no hands thing with the ol' lady on the back. I move both arms down to her legs. Takes her a second to realize. Then yells at me, she hates it. hehe
That's it! We were rollin up I-27 between Lubbock and Amarillo in April. 80mph, cruise in control, and the best part - no one (cagers or MC) within eyesight of us. 4 lanes of straight concrete interstate for 120 miles and we passed maybe two cages. Crazy!
I've been riding nearly 20 years....the last 5 or 6 with passion.
I got married, had a little baby girl, and bought a house all within the last year. New priorities and responsibilities have kept me off the bike for awhile. A couple of weekends ago I was able to put over 1000 miles on the bike for the first time in over a year. I got home sunbeat, butt hurting, and just tired as hell. I took a shower, and then laid down and just stared up at the ceiling.......smiling, and actually thinking about how I forgot how much "I get it".
.....I've spent the last two weeks sitting in front of the computer daydreaming/planning my next trip.
Damn summer though. Gettin out of South Texas is half the battle.
