Quick Question. I found some slip ons on craigslist for $150. They are off a 2008 Elektra Glide brand new. I have a 2016 Street glide special. I have been searching most of the day to find out if this will fit mine. I can't find any cross reference info. Ive been all over Harleys website, this one, and many others. Does anyone know if these will fit mine? Any help would be awesome.
Hey Charlie, before you lay down your money, might want to check further on the fitment. My Screaming Eagles bought for an 09 state for 2009 on up. I believe there was a change from 08 and 09. Just so happens I'm in Meridian. If you find that to be true, my set is also for sale if they'll work on your 16. My part number is 80721-09. Call Kylie at High Desert to check fitment.
If you are running the stock headers on your 2016 Street Glide and the slip-ons are the more restrictive models for pre-2010 Baggers, then you may find them to be too restrictive.
If you have free flowing headers already then should work well together.
Charlie, found out the difference between 08 and 09 was the cats were located in an 08's muffler. In 09, the cats were re-located to the header pipe. Not sure how the 08 slip-ons were configured to accommodate the cats.
This discussion is more complicated then it initially seems.
First is, the Screamin Eagle mufflers came in several different designs.
Second, it depends on what year bike the slip on was made for.
Third, just because they are off an 08 does not mean the person who put them on put the correct ones on for that year bike.
I dont know why zodder brought that up, but except those bikes made for International sales and California sales, the 09 touring bikes came with no CAT (the 49 state bikes.) The ones mentioned that did have a CAT were the first to have it in the head pipe.
Prior to that some bikes had the CATs in the muffler.
If the OP still has the stock head pipe with the CAT, he would not want to put on mufflers that were designed for use without a CAT. As SupperTrapp said, it will be more restrictive, and also quieter then expected.
No need to get into the other problems such as those who put on mufflers designed for use with CAT equipped head pipes and put them on gutted pipes, etc. I think you get the idea.
