I have a 05' RK Standard. I have seen some detatchable fairings out there that seem to look pretty good. Some claim to mount right on the detatchable windshiled mounts and have plug diconnects for stereo etc. Anyone have any experience with these pro or con, or maybe recommend a brand.
Which one did you end up getting? I was told about one that actually locks to the bike and have done some research on that one.
Also...what brand / model stereo did you use and are you happy with it?
I'm ordering the Quadzilla from Hoppe in a week or so, then off to the painters. J & P carries them. They have a 10% off sale coming up soon. I've also talked with the guy at California Customs (www.cal-custom-cruiser.com) and tried out his demo unit a few weeks back. I have called the folks at Hoppe a couple of times with questions. They seem to be very helpful.
I was also looking at the Quadzilla from Hoppe Industries and had my mind made up. Then I ran across this one from Dead Center Cycles. It only has the two speakers but as per Pez at HogTunes he said that using a good pair of speakers will do the job without having problems hearing the radio at highway speeds since it uses 6.5" speakers. What I like about this one is it locks to the bike. It also has a little more room above the radio for installing gauge.
I'm still undecided but want to order something. I'm ready to go.
I tell you guys.........once you put it on and ride with it, you wont be taking it off. I had a windshield on my 05 Dyna and loved it. But after getting the EG Classic, I dont know how I lived this long without the fairing.
