Default 3 Weeks into the RKCustom

Last week I ordered a chrome set for the controls from ebay. The kit included chrome switch housings, clutch lever and perch, master cylinder and perch. I got a great price from on ebay from s0rgys. I picked up the chrome switch caps at the dealer, and a new set of grips. Unfortunately I received a 11/16 MC instead of the 9/16, so I had to send it back. the new one should be here next week. I put everything else on to make sure it fit before sending the MC back, so the bike is down untill the new one comes in. The right side looks great, so I think it's worth the wait.

I also ordered all my stage one stuff. I'm going with V&H turn down slip-ons, PCIII, and the Kury skull AC. I also found the kury mirrors with built in LED turn signals and the modulator included. I got REALLY good prices on all of it. I'm hoping it will be here in time for me to have it all done next weekend. It sure is satisfying to turn your own wrench, eh?

One problem I hope someone can help me with:

When we purchased the bike we also got the riders backrest. I put this on the same day I got the bike home. This thing is pretty uncomfortable! It doesnt lean back far enough, and it's too far forward. I'm 5'11" and my knees are almost next to the gas cap and the top of the rest is really the only part that supports me. It works though, keeps me from feeling uncomfortable in high winds at highway speed. The allen screw is loosened up all the way, but it wont tilt past the verticle position. Any thoughts on this?

I don't have a riders back rest, but I heard someone say bend it backwards.

I did order the same switch housing kit off Ebay (I think from a different vendor) and I am happy too.

By the picture it looks like it's a fixed backrest. I'veread here that some guys have placed washers or other spacerson the front screw under the backrest mount tolean it back a bit. I've also read where others have heated the bar and bent it. I had the same problem with the adjustable backrest. Luckily, I have a good friend that works in a machine shop. He has some sort of machine (metal brakeI think) that he used to bend the bar about 3/4" and that made a world of difference.

Good Luck
Rich

Like ci330 said, Try a couple of washers under the front leg of the bracket.

If you have a rk custom, you need the 11/16 not the 9/16. At least that is what I was told since it has the two front brakes.

Yeah, 11/16 is what is needed. I was sent the 9/16 in error. I had them backwards in the original post.
