Default I Finally Got Bent!

When I bought the first RK (before it tried to kill me) I also purchased the removable backrest without the quick adjustable feature. It fit the purpose I needed but pushed me WAY to far forward. During my trip to PA last month I found my knees up by my gas cap when I stretched out. I wonder if the CIA would be accused of being inhumane if they sat captured alquaida operatives on this setup for extended periods of time?

I brought the backrest in to my local indie. Well, I actually brought in the rest of the bike, too. The tech (mech?) on site and I went to work trying to bend the middle of the posts about 10 degrees. I'm not sure what they make these things out of, but they're like diamonds or something! He used a torch, a vice and a fatass crowbar only to see the crowbar bend! Eventually he put the backrest in a press they have. Gotta say I was nervous but this guy is a freakin' magician. They bent in the same spot, the same angle and did not twist at all.

I feel like I went from a Focus to a Chrysler 300. Leg room all day long and the ability to lean back with out the top of this seat digging in my back.

I highly suggest having this done if you think the backrest moves you forward too much. Two things to keep in mind:

1- These things are very difficult to bend, be prepared.

2 - A small bend goes a long, long way.

I bent mine as well. Stuck it in a press the day I got it and bent it. Took about 10 mins.

Yep, they are a bear to bend. Had the dealer install it when I purchased the bike, on the ride home it didn't take but a few miles to realize it was the wrong angle to be comfortable. I took it off, after a few minutes of looking at it, into the vice it went, a few minutes later it fit perfectly. The first thing I did was figure the angle it can at and about how much bend it would take. Like you said a little bit goes a long way. I have a big old vice my grandfather had, it only took about a half of a turns of the handle to get the few degrees it takes to make a world of difference in the ride.
