Default Cable question. T bar height?

Just picked up an 05 king and first things first is a bar swap. The previous owner just put new stock length stainless braided lines on and I would hate to change them out. I bought the bike in Florida and its with my pops down there and I am currently up north so I can't measure out what I can go to comfortably but want to start buying goodies.

Now I want to go with a set of tbars that would be max 30" wide which I know would free up a lot of cable since stock bars are quite wide. Would a 12-14" narrow Tbar be doable? I see people throwing 10" apes on without changing anything and the width of them seem way wider than 30" so in theory I should be able to go taller than 10" with a more narrow width with next to no pullback.

Thanks in advance!

Check with those guys over on the Performace Baggers thread. Search performance baggers and then just PM one of the guys posting pics of their bike.

I have an 08 RG so throttle by wire etc...may be a little different.
But, I just did 14" tbars and everyone said I'd have to extend everything. There was plenty of wire, the brake a clutch will bolt on but they're maxed out so Ill definitely be adding longer lines there.
I think with a 12" youd probably be fine (dunno about throttle cables though) and with a 14" its questionable. You won't really know until you do it though, because different widths/pullback etc.

We have another current thread in which a member with 10" bars is unable to make the stock clutch cable work, so don't go making too many assumptions! Best to install your bars as you want them, then fit the controls back on them so everything works well. That may well involve buying replacements.

Yea I know man just wanted a jump on buying stuff I won't be to the bike for another month yet but I do have a set of the same 14s I want to use they are just tweaked a bit from going down on the dyna but would be good to use for mock up, just impatient.

I guess I just start with getting suspension pieces ordered and mock the bars up once I'm down there to see what I'm working with.
