Flange nut I dropped fell into a crevice behind the chain case. My ride is a 2005 Road King Classic. I have tried retrieving, but it is where I can't reach it using small mag tool. I shine a light into the crevice and I can see what looks like part of the belt drive. I am afraid to run anywhere until I remove that darn nut. I am afraid I could do some serious damage. Do I need to dismantle the case and belt assembly?
Try making yourself a tool from a coat hanger, bend it into the shape needed to get into the narrow space and either hook the nut or knock it off the perch.
The only way it could be a problem is if it's sitting on the inside of your belt. So put the bike in neutral and roll the bike forward to see if it's there. If not, don't worry about it. It'll fall out in time.
Do you have a Vacuum ?
What about taping a piece of siphon/oil hose or larger to the vacuum tube and using the suction to catch flange nut.
Put a piece of net, screen or panty hose at vacuum end to keep flange nut from entering vacuum.
A wet dry vacuum would be rather powerful and might allow you to catch flange nut from nearby.
