Pretty straightforward question. I have a 2016 Ultra Limited. Enjoy riding the hell out of it but seems like I am stretching just a bit. Brother-in-law suggested getting a different seat that lowers me a bit. Was researching it and then received an email today from the local dealer with a $50 credit on new seats.
Bottom line...I called and was getting some prices on one of the Saddleman models that advertises to take off about an inch (I have a 30" to 32" inseam) but the dealer suggested considering the seat that comes standard on the Ultra Limited Low. According to them same result but he thinks it's more comfortable but right now none in stock that I can actually try out.
I went through the seat thing for my RK a couple of years ago and I never would have believed what little differences in seats can make a big difference on feel, height and forward and rearward positioning. And that’s before you get to style and comfort. Especially the costs of seats. What I learned was ride for at least an hour on what seat you have then test a new seat. Good luck.
My personal opinion, which isn't worth anything, is that there is no such thing as a good "stock" HD seat. I couldn't imagine buying a stock seat no matter what it came on. I had a salesman tell me once he believes they purposefully make them uncomfortable for the average guy so we buy upgrades and accessories from them to make them fit us better.
There so many options, manufacturers and as previously mentioned, places like Mean City Cycles that will reshape and rebuild your existing seat to meet your wants and needs.
If you are interested in using your coupon, ask the dealer about demo seats. The majority of dealers have a supply of different demo seats for heir upgraded seats that they will let you keep for a few days and put on your bike to test on the road. Ask your parts guy about them.
Good luck. Finding the right seat can get expensive fast if you go through several.
In case you were wondering, I'm a fan Mustang Seats. I stopped trying others so I can't say they are the best but they work well for me. I've had three of them.
Had same issue with my SGS. Short inseam. Found thru trial and error the LePera Maverick. Got me lower, tad bit forward and its super comfortable. Road 350 miles last Saturday with ease.
