I have an 05 roadglide and it is at the dealer now with this exact same problem. Only has 8k on the odometer. The dealer told me it is probably the steering head bearing that needs tightening. I hope to have it back tomorrow. I'll let you know what the outcome is.
I got mine back today, The problem was that spokes were loose in the rear. The dealer tightend both the front and rear spokes and the bike handles perfectly now. If you decide this is your problem, refer to the HD service manual for the correct procedure on how to tighten loose spokes. Note that spokes can be loose and not feel loose. Mine didn't feel loose but when the bike was put on a lift you could shfit the rear wheel because of the loose spokes.
I got the same problem, its worse in any kind of wind, i retorked the swingarm, still the same. I haven't had the time to check the steering head yet. I have been thinking of going for the ridest8 stabilizer, anyone try this and does it work.
I feel a little bit of wobble in the bars when I get up to highway speeds... its very slight and at first I thought it was my imagination but I felt it again today around 65mph. Although It's very slight its just a bit unnerving. Has anyone else ever experienced this? What could it be?
Same thing happened to me, I looked down and I had run over a rain groove in the road. I hit the throttle and coutersteed an inch to the left and, by god, it went away. Seriously though, if its the wind, DON"T stifen your arms. just keepem loose. If you stiffen your arms it will transfer to your bars and you will really feel the head shake.
Got the same wobble in my 07 Ultra. Thought it was my imagination as well but seeing this thread makes me know that it isn't. Presently at the dealer for the 1K service and having them check it out. Won't be back in town until Saturday to pick it up and find out what they found. will post when I hear.
The problem is related to the fact that HD's don't have a third engine mount as per their other brand the Buell. Without this third engine mount, your engine, swingarm and rear end in general steer slightly different thus giving the unnerving wandering feeling. Check the True Track site for more details.
I will be getting one of these to solve my problem, it it won'tI will get rid of the bike!
I cannot understand why HD has not addresses or solved this problem,
considering that Buells handle so well!
