Default Brake peddle height

Good morning to all.
I have a 1999 Ultra classic and my only issue with the bike is how high the brake peddle is. It is just not a good spot for a needed quick reaction. After laying under the bike it looks like my only option is to raise the foot board.
I have tried to find a replacement that is adjustable but have not come across one. Has anyone else experienced this ?

It's not adjustable, but DK Custom (forum sponsor) has a brake pedal lever that moves the pedal forward and lower.

Not sure if it will fit or not, but, later year pedals where a bit longer and lower. Much easier than the pedal on your year bike.

I replaced mine with one from Performance Machine. It was a little longer than stock and is curved so that it sits much closer to the foot board. Made it easier to find with your foot and use.

Just like anything else, the movement becomes intuitive and natural after a while. That said, if you only ride your bike once every six months, absolutely nothing will be intuitive. But if you ride all the time, pretty soon, it should be a non-issue. But if you find a brake pedal that puts your foot in a better place, go for it...might get a little expensive trying out different ones, though.

If you go to swap meets, you could take yours off and carry it with you for comparison until you find something better suited.

You could also cut and drill your stock one, using some plate steel, to relocate the foot pedal.

I use this on my 2000 UC and one from Softbrake on my 16 limited. Both are WAY better than stock. I don't have lowers on the 2000 so not sure bout the fit with lowers.

The original brake pedal from 2002 through 2007 touring models is a direct bolt on swap for your bike. The pedal is much nicer like Neil mentioned. These can usually be found on Ebay on the cheap.

Just a note that if you're buying a used part or one not from a dealer, there is a major difference (not sure of what years) in the diameter of the shaft that comes out of the master cylinder into the brake pedal.
