Default Lowers VS. No Lowers

Wow, went for a short ride yesterday with lowers removed, for the first time on this bike. Wind coming from all over the place, very annoying. I think i’ll put them back on. Now I understand all the discussion of wind, buffeting, ect. I never knew they made such a difference.

Carry on.

Crazy how much they affect, isn't it? I added lowers to my Street Glide and it changed the entire ride. It's a bit warmer on my legs, but totally worth the trade off.

for the winter, i put the vent doors back on. take them off again in the spring. makes a big difference in 'felt' heat, as even with them fully open, they do block a bit. only takes a few minutes to do, and don't have to take them off the bike to do it.

I removed the vent doors because they were a pain in the @$$, but left the lowers on. all is good. You buy an Ultra for a reason, tot to take all of the xtra's off

Lowers on year round is the ultimate. Especially when riding elevation changes of 7,000+ ft with temp swings of 50 degrees.

I cut back the doors a couple inches to allow max air flow through vents. And trimmed the bottom portion of the lowers to allow more airflow to the pipes. Still lots of protection and airflow for summer temps.

Im actually thinking about doing these on the RKS. I dig the look of lowers with no fairing, and gives a clean spot for speakers. I assumed they were a no no in the summer with an air cooled bike though. No issues with that?

no issues. they actually direct more cooling air to the fins. it may feel hotter to the rider, but the bike will like it...
