I am currently using HD Formula+ in tranny and I am getting tired of the clunking in and out of gears. The way I see the tranny is no different than a typical manual gear box so I am thinking of using Amsoil severe gear 75w140.I am looking to find out if anybody has tried it or have an opinion.

Thanks.
Probably don't need the heavy stuff in your '05, and 75w90 should do fine. I use 85w140 (not Amsoil) in my '07 to quieten the noisy gearbox. It worked.
I just switched to amsoil 75w-90, tonight. Took it out for a ride, and really seemed to shift smoother. I will be going for a longer putt tomorrow. After I get another o ring and a quart of fluid for my primary. I f*cked up the new o ring and was getting a drip, and then two, three..You get the idea.
Anyways, for the 30 minute ride I had, the 75w-90 seemed to work well.
The clunking when shifting is characteristic of a Harley- Davidson transmission and they have been doing it forever. I love the sound of my motorcycle clunking into gear. It's the sound of a very fine andserious piece ofmachinery. I would be highly disappointed if it was quiet.
