Because they require your bike to already be covered by an extended service plan.

They only offered 2 year plans when I checked with them a couple of years ago.
You are correct now, my apologies, Sir.

I did get a quote from discountesp and they said 5 years for $1900. I am told by an independent mechanic that the Harley ESP covers more, but DiscountESP is definately cheaper.

i do wrench, in fact took care of all but major items on my 98 Dyna for 20 years. But the 2012 ultra is certainly a more complex bike, and I will retire later this year, so do not want a major repair bill on retirement pay. Appreciate the comments!!

" If all you want is one or two years coverage, discountesp is a better deal. 5 years, it's the HD Plan. "

You learn something new all the time at this place. I didn't know Harley was a better deal on the 5 year plan than discount esp.

THX for the info!

Has anyone had their Harley dealership give them a hard time with any ESP other than their own? I've heard that some dealerships won't accept it.

Thanks!!
I have a 2012 Ultra (non-Limited) and I bought an ESP when I got the bike new. It has paid for itself. Issue in the primary years back, they had to dissemble the whole thing etc.

Voltage regulator most recently....though that part isn't that 'expensive'...its just the point of it.

2012 Touring Owners... Have You Had Voltage Regulator Problems? (Yes or No Poll)

With all the wiring and moving parts on an Ultra.....newer bikes have all the electronics. Dunno, worth considering depending on the bike model.

You've heard? How did you hear? Who told you? How did you ascertain their authenticity? Who was the dealer/s that that didn't honor it?

I've had an ESP on the last 4 bikes I have owned. My wife puts about 15k miles per year on hers and I put closer to 20k per year. Between the work covered and the very fair refund when cancelling it early, I've come ahead. Plus the piece of mind. So, it works for me.
