I did get a quote from discountesp and they said 5 years for $1900. I am told by an independent mechanic that the Harley ESP covers more, but DiscountESP is definately cheaper.
If ya don't wrench at all, it's a much better deal. If you do wrench, it becomes an insurance policy against those major defugalties that seem to happen all too often...like crank scissoring or ABS failure.
i do wrench, in fact took care of all but major items on my 98 Dyna for 20 years. But the 2012 ultra is certainly a more complex bike, and I will retire later this year, so do not want a major repair bill on retirement pay. Appreciate the comments!!
I have recently purchased a 2012 Ultra Limited from Buddy Stubbs HD in Anthem AZ. I have been thinking about a Harley ESP, which I am told is in the $1900 - $2400 range depending on duration. I have 28K miles on the bike and it is in great shape, but was wondering what the general thinking was around purchasing an ESP, whether or not people thought it was a good investment or not.
Thanks!!
I have a 2012 Ultra (non-Limited) and I bought an ESP when I got the bike new. It has paid for itself. Issue in the primary years back, they had to dissemble the whole thing etc.
Voltage regulator most recently....though that part isn't that 'expensive'...its just the point of it.
I've had an ESP on the last 4 bikes I have owned. My wife puts about 15k miles per year on hers and I put closer to 20k per year. Between the work covered and the very fair refund when cancelling it early, I've come ahead. Plus the piece of mind. So, it works for me.
