I check the oil level often. While both the service and owners manual state to check oil while on the jiffy stand, neither publication says what position the bike needs to be in for an oil change. I have tried both upright and on the jiffy stand with similar results. Just want to make sure I am getting all of the used oil out. Thanks.
You are not doing anything wrong. Drain and fill with 3 quarts. Run the engine for a few minutes. Cut Off the engine and top of the oil to the full (or just under) cold oil mark depending if it is up right or on the jiffy stand. There is some oil in the top end (about 1/2 QT) of the engine that does not pour out during an oil drain.
EDIT NOTE: I got caught by the old post again. Oh well.
