2012 Ultra Limited, HK system, audio cuts out periodically. only way to get it back is to cycle power to unit. All features. modes and switches work fine. Only thing changed on the bike previous to this problem staring is that I changed the front batwing speakers to HOGTUNES direct replacements.
I had the same issue, it got worse with time till the radio stopped sending any audio to the speakers (Hogtunes speakers and AMP). Well known issue with HK units. I got it fixed by Iron Cross Audio http://www.ironcrossaudio.com/ They have eBay offers too so check them out
You can run the diagnostics on the radio
Remove any CD that's inside the system.
Press and hold any two soft keys from 1-6.
Turn the ignition switch to "on."
Wait for the radio to complete the scan for itself, then let go of the two soft keys.
If there are any malfunctioning switches or components, the radio will display a trouble code.

I got B2017 error code
thanks, I'll check for codes......I did not put in the HOG tunes AMP, only the speakers.
Had an issue with mine. Would work fine, then all of a sudden would get static and buzz. Turned off and on and was fine. Diagnostics were fine, no issues noted. Was getting ready to make decision to replace or send to ironcross. Well, I found that I must have moved the toggle switch for it to play through headset when cleaning or something. Switched it off of that and it has worked fine for the last year. Strange that it would play through speakers when set to headset.
I had the same issue (code B2017) with the head unit on an Ultra I used to own. I got lucky and found a used head unit on Craigslist for only $250.
Next time you remove the outer fairing, make sure the speaker wires are clean and tight. Also, disconnect the wiring connectors on the head unit and spray with electrical contact cleaner (sold at home centers and auto parts stores). Spray the antenna input, too.
Search 'code B2017' on the forum. There are several threads on the topic. Most folks repair the head unit or replace it. Post #9 from Iron Cross in this thread is very telling: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...aker-open.html
