I had a 14 Road King, essentially the same. Pipes - including headpipes, aircleaner and a tune with a powervision made it run as cool as a cucumber and totally woke the bike up. Amazing gains can be made with a good aftermarket stage 1. The warranty shouldnt be affected at all since the strict warranty bs only applies to 17s and newer.
any here ever use the fuel moti mini. The only thing I am ever gonna do to my bike is air cleaner, dual x pipes and slip ons. Nothing else. I heard they work pretty good if you are just gonna do simple mods. Kinda on a tight budget. If I get the Vance and Hines fuel pack I can't get the x pipes with no cats . So I am torn fual x pipes and moto mini or just VnH fuel pack . This will surely be better for my heat issue . Btw the heat issue I found out was because i was running lean.very
Try calling fuelmoto. They are incredibly helpful and can answer all your questions better than any of us.

Saw the CAN'T. In that response. I am not a mechanic or engineer. And I spell like ****. The K&N is a higher air flow. Slip-on are a change to the fuel system as well or at least from stock. If you ever do both changes you need a fuel mod of some kind in the form of a dyno, or fuel management system. Aftermarket, Harley whatever. That's why from post 1 to 30 a lot was said about the ,"Getting a tune". Since you have a high flow air cleaner, and slip-ons. Even with a new manifold x-over of ANY brand. I might be going out on a limb but ANY tuner suggested here would work. You can start with a tuner. After that you can change air cleaner ,pipes, slip-on's/mufflers. And just add a new map with the tuner and help from whatever place you get the tuner from. There are so many maps/downloads you can flash your system with it's not funny. My FP3 started the whole process by saving my original map. Which I am sure they all do Once you get passed the will it start now phase. lol You will find those little tuners have a lot of options. Like throttle sensitivity and speedometer calibration. Monitor the engine heat. And so on. Good luck and ride safe!
Had a rear exhaust glow red also on my 2002 FLHTPI when first bought. MC was running way to lean.
Changed over the breather, exhaust system and to a Dyno Jet tuner. Finally opted for a Thunder Max tuner. Problem went away with either device. FYI Fuel Moto recommended highly. IMHO
Which tuner is better anyway let's say I had the money for a VnH fp3 tuner and or the mini moto but all I was ever gonna do was the exuast slip ons, head pipes and a heavy breather. Should i get the Vance and Hines tuner or just stick with the mini moto since it will handle what i need for 150 less. Or should i leave my option open and get the fuel pack.will the fuel pack adjust everything.

I'm not sure but others might know more? But if you're running 14mm O2 sensors on your ride I'm not sure even with a piggy back system you'll do any better or not. Basically, the 14mm O2 sensors are 14 or 14.8 regardless? No adjustment capabilities and I'm not sure the piggy back systems will be of any use or they'll trick it into seeing things different? Gotta run the wide bands O2 sensors I think and stand corrected?
The feul moto tuner eliminates the o2 sensor I believe. I actually ordered a head pipe and a moto micro yesterday the guys at fuel moto have phenomenal customer service and I spoke to them about issues and mods and the guy gave me several option I could do a few options he gave wasnt even selling me his product. But after talking with them they will cure my issue and then some. I feel real confident with my desicion with these guys. Thanks everyone for the input.
While Fuel Moto is a popular shop if I lived in Texas, especially Fort Worth, I would be going to GMR no question ,they can do anything Fuel Moto can do and you live right by them. The FM headpipe is a good one just cancel the micro tuner and go with a Power Vision and have GMR dyno tune it , it will run so much better http://gmrperformance.com/services/dyno-results/
I would love to be able to take it there if I could afford it. I am budget based right now lucky to even have a new bike. I have a kid graduated and leaving for the navy next month and a 14 month old. Later down the road when money becomes more plentiful lol. But as of now I was just looking for a reasonable fix on a budget and be semi decent. I think what I am doing currently will work well because I will probably not go any further than exuast ,head pipes and air cleaner. The rest will be dress up. But most of all just the feeling of riding.thanks again everyone.
