Default Red Hot

Hello I am new to Harleys and I now own a 14 street glide. I have a K&N air filter factory box and 3.5 inch slip ons. I spoke to my dealer and he stated what I added will not void my ESP warranty. Now my issue is that i have noticed when riding that the area around my cat is red hot glowing a bit at night. Will a tuner like a fuel pack or fuel moto cure the heat issue and are the tuners removable without a trace. Because I am sure that will void my warranty but at the same time I feel as if it should not be that hot and that I am hurting my bike by continuing to let it heat up like that. Any recommendations. I am used to having liquid cooled crotch rockets.

No cure for heat on a Harley. But glowing red is unusual. A better tune/tuner. And possibly removing the cat in the "Glowing section" would do wonders.there are many ways to address the heat. Do a search on the forums from deflectors to a larger oil cooler. And so on. If you state has emission testing on bikes. And mine does not. Removing the cat could be an issue. Your bike history is a bit light so bottom line is if you change air flow and exhaust you need a tune of some kind. If that was never done. Yes that's a problem. Get r done! Now ask what tuner to get watch the fun.lol

The '14 model years are not as "warranty sensitive" as the M8's or '17's and up.

I don't have a cat system, but I would think if your pipe is glowing red; you have a problem. You need to get that addressed, a tuner would help. I would worry more about the heat issue now, than worry about a tuner being detectable.

Default Fuel moto

Fuel moto has been recommended by a few people that say my bike is just running lean and it should help alot with the heat. Anyone on here used the dynatek product fuel moto system.as far as emissions I am in Texas and I dont believe they do that on bikes here s I will probably get a decatted pipe.

Default Love it FP3

FP3 is what I use. Works great. No complaints. Uses smart phone for interface. Fuel Moto sells them as well. I have one on my 2011 Ultra Limited. Love it.

You have a problem and the bike didn't do that from the factory so before you go spending money on fuel management etc have a qualified shop figure out the issue. Yes, Harley's run hot but not glowing red hot...even in the most extreme conditions.

Well it is under warranty so I will just take it to Harley and let them check it out and see what they have to say.and even if they say it's normal and something goes wrong its documented . I'll pay the 50 dollar deductible just to make sure its not a major issue. At this point it would be all on them because they were the last to service the bike as well.

thats the best first step IMO...if the shop does say it's "normal" I'd take it to another dealer. No way HD let that out of a factory as normal operation.

Wow after reading threads on the forum this is pretty normal on the 103s . Multiple people have had this issue and all say remove cat and get a tune . The bike is set lean for EPA standards and the cat is were it's getting hot. Makes sense will ask the dealer but looks like a tune in my harley future.

Cool Too Lean ...

we think the bike is "WAY" too lean ...possibly in the mid 15 afr range ...with the k&n filter in the stock air box.... riding slow around town in these high air temp's (thin air) ...it's getting way to hot ...a tuner to add some fuel and head pipe to remove cat ...is what we do ...with Wards Fans , oil cooler and avoid stop and go traffic !!!
