Im not sure what "premium" means when it comes to brake fluid. Price maybe?lol . I think ANY dot4 fluid would be ok- as long as its fresh. They all have to meet a dot4 specification.
I recently had my system flushed by dealer recall and they said premium is a little more water resistant. Not sure if that is true but time will tell. If you have ABS and your bike is one of the problematic ones I would go with the best DOT4 I could get me hands on, once the ABS unit starts acting up you will have to replace it.

I bought a bottle of the Brembo Dot-4 from Auto Zone. It was plenty to flush the brakes and the clutch, running about 3-4 master cylinder fulls through each.

i'm going to do both. some fluid at autozone is dot 3-4. i have a new bottle of dot 4 on the work bench, but it's 4 years old. Don't think i should use it.

Just because two products may meet the minimum requirements doesn't preclude one exceeding, maybe even greatly exceeding, those minimum requirements.

lol a little more water resistant... harley must think we are stupid or something. Dot 4 is dot 4. It will always be hydroscopic. That must be the same fluid that fixes poorly designed abs units... its magical i tell you!

This is certainly true. There are some DOT 4 fluids (Motol 600, ATE Type 200) that have higher wet & dry boiling points than the minimum required by DOT 4 classification.
Someone said that a dealer told them the HD Premium absorbed less water. Not saying that it's impossible, but in the DOT 4 fluids I've researched, I've never heard/read of one claiming to be formulated to absorb less water.. HD Premium would be the first.... Sounds like classic MoCo marketing to me...

Yeah I noticed that when I was there and they had a lot of it in their own branded bottles. It was much cheaper than the Brembo, but for $11 I figured it was a safer bet to get straight Dot 4 from the same company that made the calipers on the bike. I had actually bought two bottles but one was more than enough.
