As you can see in the picture sometimes I run with my ultra tour bag on my cooler rack. Well on this trip the exhaust melted one of the straps. I’ve never had this happen before looking for suggestions on preventing this in the future.

Get a bar made that will slip in the receiver then another receiver 5” higher to slip the rack in. Or modify the rack bar lower by how much you need to clear. Modification would be better if you only use it for the bag or something no larger since you would eliminate the double slip of two pieces.

I’m thinking put a heat shield on the backside of the rack? if I’m going to have something fabricated. There’s been no evidence on anything else I’ve put back there to include the bag that’s shown any issues from exhaust heat.
