My key don't lock the ignition switch on my 2012 ultra I bought bike used from Harley dealer it has security fob but someone could turn it on and run battery down can dealer make me a key.
Does your current key lock/unlock tour pack or saddle bags? If so then it seems to me as if your switch is either hosed or has been replaced. Either way, if you order your key based on the number under the plastic cover then its not going to work either. You'll need to replace your switch based on the key number.
You probably already know this, but on mine the only way to lock the ignition is to lock the forks. Forks all the way to the left, key all the way to the left, depress and turn key to lock and remove.
I wonder if the previous owner had the ignition switch out at one stage , and did not align the tumblers correctly when installing ignition switch back in, which in turn stops the locking mechanism from working ???
You can go through the exercise of removing the ignition switch and then re align the tumblers down the shaft , (videos on the internet).. Then re install switch , and see how you go ….It can be a pain in the butt if it is your first time...
My advise is,, go to dealer and get them to remove ignition switch and align tumblers , (if needed), with there aligning tool, and see if that rectifies the problem..... If not you may need a new switch mechanism …..
