Hello everyone. Recently picked up an 88 Electra Glide Classic with 35k on the clock. the bike runs like a champ with some minor maintenance done and a good carb cleaning. This forum has been a huge help in getting me through some of the questions I have had in getting some basic maintenance stuff done.
I have come across and issue i just cant sort out. When i turn the forks to the far left and turn the ignition to lock and lock it with the key nothing happens i can turn the ignition switch back and forth to run or to or any other position freely and the forks are not locked. If i turn the switch to Accessory and lock it with the key the ignition locks there and stays lockedin that position. I cannot lock the forks though. Any thoughts on what may be going on and how to fix it?
I don't think the ignition lock ever locked the forks. I could be wrong I have never had a touring bike on Byna's and Softtaiils. On both of these there is a lock on the neck. I don't know what year they started with the locck built into the neck but I do know before that people used to lock the forks with a padlock. I had a friend who had a 96 softtail like that
