Default new version SE compsator oiler glue

Hey guys. Been trying to find the answer on the forum, Where do you get the glue to glue on the oiler for the latest version SE compensator. My 2013 has the old version SE comp and its starting to show all the signs of going bad.

Does Harley sell the glue with the new comp?

Harley sells the glue separate of the compensator and it's god awful expensive as I recall from doing mine. I don't know of a PROVEN alternative but I'd sure look for one before paying what the moco wants for theirs again!

The Harley glue was $60 dollars here in Canada. I used Permatex two part epoxy and it's been fine. Make sure you give it enough time to set properly and you will be fine.

I did this about a month ago and just used JB Weld.

Two part JB weld, I have done several like that, and it works perfect.

I used JB Weld, works great. No need to get that high priced stuff from HD. Just be sure to rough up the area inside the primary cover and thoroughly clean it. Allow 24 hrs before you reinstall the cover.

The main advantage of the Harley recommended goop seems to be the short set time, you can "work" with the part (what ever that means) in 30 minutes, if I remember correctly. JB Weld high temp formula actually has better performance numbers but has the 24 hour set time. How big a hurry are you in? My son is an engineer. I asked him about JB Weld, which indicates it is not harmed by oil, and he answered that we have no indication if oil is harmed by JB Weld. That never occurred to me. I did his bike and mine at the same time with the recommended glue, primarily because of his comment. At this point, EXPERIENCE with JB Weld by MANY users in here suggests that it is a fine choice, especially if you start the job in the afternoon and plan the reassembly for the next afternoon. If I ever do another one, I will be happy using JB Weld.

I actually read somewhere that the new 2015 primary covers have the part already cast inside. Is that true?

THIS is what HD used in the kits and can be had cheaper by buying direct. That said, JB Weld works fine.

What Dawg said (above). CALL THEM to order, when you tell them its for a Harley they immediately know what to send you (caulk gun adaptor etc)

Also, call your local dealer, mine would've done it for like $30 (?) if I brought them the primary cover. I didn't go that route, but, it is an option if you dont want to buy the Chembar stuff.

Edit to add: having dissembled both an 08 and a 12 I can say the comp in my 12 already had the bigger 'upgraded' spring pack. The original in the 08 was the older smaller spring pack and old rotor setup. Anyway, the 12 is still fine though there were differences in the new SE I put in the 08 and the original one in the 12.
