Default max. pressure in shocks???

On stock air shocks what is the max air pressure? I have a 04 road king if that should make a difference.I know everyone likes to have different pressure in them. Just want to know so I dont blow out the shock. I will be using the hand pump from HD. That is a neat little tool to have. Waiting for my service manual to come in.
Thanks
Jrbean

Your owners manual should list the safe pressure range. I wouldn't go over 40 lbs. I usually put in 35lbs when riding 2 up.

The air in those shocks is a very minute amount as far as volume, so that tiny H-D pump works well. A regular bicycle pump would probably burst then system unless you were VERY cautious. I keep mine at 30 pounds on my '05 E-G (i'm 235 lbs) and run the bike minus the tourpack most of the time except for road trips.

??? Well when I dropped the rear on my '07 RG (with 2 1\2" lowering cam & OEM Air Shocks) - Riding 2-up loaded had to jack up the Air to 65+ to stop from bottoming out.... NEVER had a shock failure??? But the ride sucked!! So changed out to Progressive 440 HD!
