Default 09 compensator

Is there a way to tighten up the spacing in the 09 compensator ? Shims maybe to take up some slack ? Can the spring pack be replaced ? I believe the spring pack is part of the rotor assembly. I know the baker is the real fix, but my brother is trying to buy alittle time with this one. We are installing the Baker Attitude Adjuster and will have the comp. off anyway. Just seeing if we can get it to be alittle less noisy. THANKS !

I had my spring pack replaced last year when a spring broke. The mechanic said the rest of the compensator was fine.

Was this on a 09 ? I believe the later ones had the flat type springs that were replaceable.

Yes the springs looked like flat rings. They are part of the cover for the stator. It’s replaced as a unit. I have an ‘09 Streetglide

Looking at the parts diagrams the 09's look like different units in regards to the spring packs. I know that they are forward compatible. No sure how many parts you would have to replace to get that set up in the 09.

I am not at home right now but I have a whole unit out of a 2010 that still had some life left in it when I switched over to the SE unit.

unclear why you're removing the comp to put in a chain adjuster, unless the Baker Attitude requires that (?)

Regardless, if comp is off (or coming off) IMO why not just replace now and save a headache next summer or thereafter.

Yep , the Baker requires the removel of the comp. spocket to install. My brother wants to buy alittle time with this compensator for awhile to save some money, he just bought this bike and it's really not to bad right now.

So what i'm getting out of this is you can buy the spring pack for the 09 compensator ? I guess i'll give the dealer a call ( i really hate the idea of that ).

interesting, didn't realize one had to pull the entire comp to put in a the Attidude Adjuster.

09- didn't see the specific model in your original post....assuming a touring model.

On my 09 at 60, 000 miles I added one more spring disc from another comp. It worked great for 20, 000 miles, at around 80, 000 miles my shift shaft seal started leaking , when I opened the primary up the spring disc's were starting to where thru the spring cup so installed new SE comp .
