I am looking for some advice here about air cleaners for my 2010 Ultra. I have Rush slip ons with baffles. I will be replacing the head pipe with a stock decatted one from Wild Pig Pipes when I start this upgrade. I am also using the v ieds at this time. Did a bunch of reading on the stage 1 intake upgrades and I kind of narrowed it down to the DK stage one with the stock cover or the KN HD 1508 filter under the stock cover. I am not looking for whopping gains nor am I expecting any but I would just like to make it run a bit better. I do not want to play with the ecm at this time.
Will I notice any difference with either set-up?
Is there any noticeable difference between the two set-ups.
Will the 1508 show any improvements over stock on it's own?
Thanks for the responses....

Honestly you prob wont even notice a difference at all. I just added an intake and I have a micro tuner so better than than xied. Intake def looks better to me but didnt notice much if anything at all
With our systems, your bike will breathe and perform better and your engine will last longer, as each of our systems come equipped with an External Breather System of your choice.
Here's an informative report on why these EBS's are important.

:Ordered the KN 1508 after talking to a friend who had done a similar set up. Only difference was that he went with a tuner and had it dyno tuned. That’s not in the budget for me. Next week I’ll install the catless head pipes and air cleaner and play with the vieds and see where I’m at then. I may go with a VH fuel pak if the vieds can’t be dialed in.
Thanks for the replies.
Just saying.....my previous bike was a Triumph Rocket 3 which had 145 horsies........

Lots of folks, in fact, most folks that "upgrade" to a "stage I" air cleaner notice little or no difference. However, Not all air cleaners are created equal. The vast majority are mediocre in performance gains.
There is far more to how an air cleaner works than just the filter element. How the air flows after getting past the element makes a significant difference in whether there will be a felt gain or not. Plus, as Cristy mentioned, not having hot, oily, oxygen depleted air going into the throttle body makes a difference in performance, longevity and tune stability.
See the charts posted above. A 10% or better gain is definitely something that the majority of folks will notice....and you're right, you won't get that gain from most air cleaners, but you will from the Outlaw A/C Systems.
