If I owned a Honda or BMW, I doubt I would be coming to this forum.
I own 2 Kawasaki's (06 650 klr and 04 250 super sherpa) a yamaha (04 vmax),a Triumph (16 Tiger 800), an Indian (18 Chieftain) and 3 Harley's (76 FXE, 97 FLHT, and a 05 FXDL). And I've owned probably another dozen bikes or so in the last 35 years.
Are we not suppose to talk about our personal experiences or comparisons with any other motorcycles than Harley on this forum?
Hmmm... I wonder if that same strategy will work for other problems that need to be solved? Say you get a girl pregnant, can one just avoid her and the problem is solved?
I believe he said it with a little "tongue in cheek", don't you think? Some folks need to lighten up a little.
My overall point is this. I love Harleys and may buy another once they get these issues solved. I just hate buying brand new bike and getting loaded with recalls of issues and potential issues. BTW my 2018 Road King Special is still in my garage, I didn't trade it, I bought the BMW outright. Haven't ridden it since I got this bike. This was not a anti-Harley thing at all just a wake up call to the MoCo to get their act together before releasing something. No bike is trouble free but it's gotta get better than it has been.
Careful Gunny, some might get the impression you are sensitive. But I'm used to taking care of my Gunny's.
here's the thing, ride up into a group of bikes, the crowd circles around the Harley's. That's it.
I have fielded more questions about Moto Guzzi''s than on my Harleys . But I used to ride my Guzzi to "Harley" events, and my Harley to "Guzzi" events.
Funny I went the other way....Had a 2013 K 16 GT ...At 53 k miles it started smoking, took it in had 3 cracked pistons....Low and behold BMW had this problem for all of 2012 and half of 2013 model builds.....Of coarse they kept it quite and let the owners take the hit if they we're out of warranty.....Really liked that bike but as some said foot prg position was a bit tough after a few hours in the seat....Extended warranty fixed the bike and I traded for a 2018 RG std. and at 11k miles the Harley has done very well with NO issues....I really enjoyed the Beemer but I can't take a company that screws up like that and sticks the customer with it.....They (BMW) has done this before on major issues....I wish you the best with your BMW,but pay close attention the the blogs and whats going on because BMW isn't going to tell you squat!!!!!!
