Default Do you guys do price opinions?

I read through the rules and I don't think this question is a violation.
I'm looking at a bike and want your opinions of a price that's fair to me and the seller both. It would be a private party sale.

2014 Street Glide Special
(so: Nav, Cruise, ABS is standard)
7,XXX miles; original tires
All maintenance is documented and current
No body damage or any "ugly"; its a very clean, well maintained bike

Mysterious Sunglo Red
Cobra exhaust
4 pt docking system
Touring seat
Sissy bar with luggage rack
Passenger boards
Heated grips
Klockwerks shaded windshield

Of course, everyone wants to pay as little as possible, myself included. NADA says average retail is $17K. KBB says average trade in is $12.7 and average retail is $16.9 (options don't matter to KBB). What should I consider a reasonable offer for a private party sale?

It's really a depressed market right now for baggers..... certainly a buyers market.

You didn't mention what part of the country this is.... the region will matter a little bit.....

This is from Blackbook Powersports, I find them a little more realistic than KBB or NADA, but even they, at times, have been a little high in this depressed market

I'd offer $15K firm, if you really love the bike and it's in GREAT shape..... I seriously doubt he'll get better than 15K...

average retail $16900 minus average trade $12700 = $4200. half of $4200.is $2100. Add $2100.+12700= $14800. or less for private sale.

The market is in the tank and there are great deals to be made, especially with us going into winter season. Between trade in and retail, I would be much closer to the trade in number. Sellers are everywhere right now and buyers are few and far between. I bought an ultra limited for less than you are thinking about paying on this one. Even if you want this particular bike, shop around to see whats in your area and what they are selling for (not what they owe or are asking)

I've been shopping for a Street Glide for two months! I'm not the guy that can take "whatever" color/options, etc. I have a wish list and when I spend this kind of Jack, I'd hate myself if I didn't hold out for what I want. That being said, I can only buy what they're selling. I have found several that are close, but this one has some frills that would be nice to have. The asking price is in line with the numbers you guys are kicking around and I'm beginning to think I may be hooked.

BTW, I'm in South Georgia (hence, the username, SoGA) so I have all of Florida and there are tons on '14 to '16 with less than 5k on the clock. Got a delivered price from deep sound FL from a dealer of $14 + 300 to deliver with no tax on one almost exactly like this in cayenne with less than 5k miles. Almost made a deposit on that one, but I can't bring myself to buy sight-unseen.

I really appreciate you guys giving your insight. Even if it does end up being an expensive proposition for me!

Good luck whatever you pick. Financially, the worst thing you can do is fall in love with one. It's difficult to make good decisions with a hard on.
