2 weeks ago I had theopertunity Dyna Wide Glide and absolutely loved it. It had the deep 2 up seat that gave lower back support, slightly taller handle bars. It was the next best thing to having sex with a cute little fiesty redhead....[8D]
With this said, I have been really looking hard at the Heritage Softail Classic and the Road King, Road Glide as well. Unfortunantly I haven't had the opertunity to ride any of these bikes. I really do love the looks of the Heritage and have been leaning that way.
WhatI want is to be able to pull a small trailer to haul the pup with me on longer day rides(and the beer) or switch covers and have something to haul our supplies for weekend trips. I've seen Ultra's and Heritages pulling a trailer, but never a Dyna.
I'm in a delema here and would like some input. Most of my rides will be 200 mile day runs with the guys, but would like something that will be comfortable on longer trips.
Would the Heritage be the best comprimise...?
What are my other options ?

My last bike was a Heritage, and I now have a Road King. There is no comparison between the two. I like the King a lot better. It handles better in the corners than my Heritage and is a lot lot lot smoother and more comfortable. I can ride a lot longer on the King, and with the rubber mounted motor it has a lot less vibration off idle. My vote would be to go with the King. As for towing the heavier bike will handle the trailer much more comfortably without you feeling it on the bike. I don't think you would be happy towning with a Dyna.

I saved for years for a FXDWG, and knew just what mods I would do on it. Funny, when I took an extended test ride I realized what a huge mistake I almost made. One FLHR and 10 minutes later I found the right bike. Whew!

I have a 2004 Road King and last winter I did a custom/restore job on my work - bar bike (FXR Lowrider). After working all winter on it it looked great and was fun bar hopping, but for any distances ( the work part of it) it SUCKED. I found another RK, an 02 police, lost my a$$ trading the FXR for it, but am really happy with my decision. And the best part of it, I now have another project!! Bottom line, Dynas are fun but for distances, 2 up, and comfort you can't beat a touring bike.

Here's the thing. With a rk (custom, classic or standard) you have the ability to have many different looks with just the one bike. Detachable fairing, tourpack, and comfy 2 up seat for trips (and towing a trailer), or windsheild and sissy bar for shorter trips. And best of all, strip it down. Solo seat, no sheild, no sissy bar, for bar hopping. A very versatile bike. Best money you can spend, for a multi purpose type bike. IMO.
