2017 ultra limited FLHTKL; Ignition switch keeps getting stuck in different positions with or without key, but usually in lock position. After a few tries I am able to get it to release. Brought the bike into my dealer but both times could not duplicate condition. They lubed it and sent me on my way. So I am now down south and towed my bike into a dealership with a flat tire. I told the service rep that the ignition switch still keeps hanging up. He said that he sees this problem about once a week.
His solution was DO NOT put the cylinder in the lock position. How can I get them to replace the switch. Warranty runs out at end of year.
There is a little screw under the sticker on the top of the switch right above the key hole. Remove the metal sticker with a feeler gauge and take a 25 secuity torx bit and while someone holds the switch down remove and reinstall after applying redlock tite. Replace sticker. Do a search on here there are a couple of threads on it. At least that is what is claimed to be a problem and i did it before i had problems.
Don't know if that will solve your problem or not but it's worth a shot.

I haven't read or seen anything on this problem yet BUT I would never use RED loctite on that screw. Blue sure, but the thought of trying to remove a tiny torx screw with Red from the ignition switch makes me cringe...
If you ever needed it out all you would have to do is hold a soldering gun on it until the lock-tite lets loose.
Someone else told me about this problem after not being able to unlock their forks. So i would assume it could cause the switch to hang up. It seems when this screw gets even slightly loose it can cause headaches. This is why they tell you not to put it in the lock postion. I think many techs have seen this problem before. That little screw is not on any parts list or pic's either.

Probably a different switch but mine on my 2011 locked and would not release at all. I was on a 3 day bike run 7 hours from home. Had to strip it out (wasn't easy but doable) and jump ignition to get it running. When I went to HD to get a new one they said they were back ordered for 3 months??? I got a new one off ebay that has worked great. I also turned my keyfob security back on so bike would not start if ignition was unlocked (previous owner had it disabled at dealership). I usually leave it unlocked now unless it's night time away from home. Guy on parts counter said they had lots of people coming in looking for a new one so must have been an issue of some sort???
