Hey, I’m in the process of changing my front suspension on my 2019 RGS. I just removed one of the fork legs and removed the inners. My question is how do you remove the dual-bending piston in the fork? I was hoping everything would have just came out without having to replace seals since it’s a new bike. So do I have to break apart the upper and lower legs to remove the piston and is it welded in there? Thanks
The ring is on the damper tube which is removed by taking out the retainer bolt in the bottom of the fork leg. Ya should not have to replace it. I would at least replace the fork seal in any case.

There is no such of a thing as a "dual-bending piston " in any Harley fork. There is a sort of dual-bending reed" located in the end of the fork tube inside of the check valve <example below>. 2017~ Current $1.00 "Premium" Suspension Bending reed system. 2017~ Current on left & pre-2017 on right.
I would suggest going over your manual again. Part #9 is a piston ring used when rebuilding your damper rod. A new bike does not need to be rebuilt like a new piston ring.

Thanks Howard that was my mistake. I’m going to install a Pro-Action Fork kit with a new damper rod, spring and spring spacer. I removed the internals out of my fork leg. The damper tube cuff won’t come out. Do I need to split the forks to take the cuff out and also remove the check valve? Sorry for the confusion first fork job I ever tackled. Thanks
